Visual redaction isn't redaction.
Most "redactors" draw a black rectangle on top of your PDF. The text underneath is still there — copy-pasteable, searchable, recoverable. Censr rasterizes affected pages and bakes the bars in, so the words are gone, not hidden.
Redacted regions are destroyed at the byte level on export — not painted over.
Author, software, GPS, embedded thumbnails — all stripped. Your file leaves nameless.
We don't know who you are. We don't want to.
The redacted file lives only long enough to download. Then it's gone.
Frequently asked.
Is the redaction really permanent?+
Yes. On export we rasterize every affected page and burn the bars into the bitmap. No selectable text, no vector data, no hidden layer.
What metadata do you remove?+
Title, author, subject, keywords, creator, producer, creation and modification dates, XMP streams, embedded files, and any image EXIF — including GPS — because images are re-encoded on export.
Why charge anything?+
Charging $0.99 lets us run without ads, tracking, or accounts. You stay anonymous; we stay funded.
What if I lose my download?+
You have up to one hour to download after paying. After that the file is shredded and unrecoverable — even by us.
